Sarpy County Attorney Lee Polikov has charged Marian student Madeline Shely with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide, running a stop sign and violating terms of her provisional drivers permit.
In October Shely was behind the wheel of a jeep that was struck by a pickup at 180th and Highway 370 as she and two friends were on their way to Vala's Pumpkin Patch.
The crash killed Shely's boyfriend, Nate Lafave, and left her and Carly Ann Kelly with critical injuries. The driver of the pickup, 50-year-old Alan Hynes, was not hurt.
Under the provisional drivers permit, Shely was prohibited from having more than one passenger under the age of 18 in the car.
