According to Foodbeast, every state in the continental U.S. has their own favorite fast food chicken chain and the big winners are as follows.
- KFC– most popular in 14 states
- Raising Cane’s– 9 states (including Nebraska)
- Church’s Chicken– 9 states
- Zaxby’s– 7 states
- Popeye’s– 6 states (including Iowa)
If you think there is one missing, there is – Chick-fil-A was not the most popular in any single state which is a little surprising. In fact, they never finished higher than third overall in any state.
The state-by-state list, which you can see HERE, was tallied by looking at GPS tracking and spending data at the seven largest chains in the country. The data does include what customers purchased during the pandemic and for the record? Fried chicken had the lowest drop of any category of restaurant food.
