Woman Horrified After Man Brings Mom’s Ashes On First Date

Think you’ve heard it all when it comes to bad first dates? Well, listen up. A woman shares the story of her first date with a guy she met on Tinder and invited to a barbecue at her house, but soon regretted not swiping left. She gives us all the details in a post on Reddit’s “Today I f-ed up” section.

  • The date wasn’t off to a great start when the “Hagrid-looking” dude showed up late and talked non-stop about himself and his family drama.
  • As if that’s not bad enough, she says he also brought bacon for the burgers, but wouldn’t share it. And that’s not the only thing he brought along.
  • He also reached into his pocket and pulled out a vial filled with black powder and after seeing it, she says she was “flipping between if he was about to snort something strange or build some sand art.”
  • But instead, he tells her, “I’d like to introduce you to my mother.” She admits she didn’t know whether to “laugh or cry or run” at this point.” The guy went on to explain his mom often joins him on special occasions and he brings her ashes to “any important event.”
  • And in addition to the vial of ashes, he also had his mom’s ashes in a necklace and a ring he wore, and he has a half-sleeve tattoo dedicated to her.
  • The woman clarifies that she doesn’t “judge people based on their grief cycles” because we all cope differently. “But homeboy brought out a vial of his mother’s ashes and set them on the table for our first date,” she explains. “I simply could not.”
  • When the date wrapped up, he texted her before he even got to his car, writing, “My mother really liked you, I can’t wait to see you again.” And she replied that she “didn’t feel the connection,” to him or his mother!
