Volvo has joined the race to develop self-driving cars, saying it plans to build 100 such vehicles in a pilot project. The Swedish-based (and Chinese-owned) automaker said it will test its "autonomous" cars on 30 miles of selected roads in the Swedish city of Goteborg, starting in 2017. Volvo said the vehicle would assume all driving functions, though the driver "is expected to be available for occasional control." Parking would be fully automated, allowing the driver to leave the vehicle as it finds a vacant spot to park by itself.
Bizzare Funeral "Bowls Em Over"!
A funeral for a woman who loved bowling, featured on last night's episode of Best Funeral Ever on TLC, was held at a bowling alley where the woman's family sent her casket "down the lane for one final strike." In the episode, the casket of Judy Sunday can be seen gliding down a lane towards 10 specially designed bowling pins with her name written on them. "We believe a family member's passing is a time to celebrate their life, not mourn their death," said the owner of a local funeral home in Dallas, Texas, that helped arrange the special ceremony.

BRIDE CHARGES WEDDING TO EMPLOYERS CREDIT CARD
A Florida bride faces criminal charges after allegedly charging $50,000 in wedding costs on her employers' credit cards. La'Reese Michelle Darville told detectives she charged bills for her June wedding at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to credit cards belonging to Partners III Pawn Shop in Port St. Lucie, where her bosses include her father. Darville said such activities were common among the store employees. Furthermore, she told investigators she had repaid the business for all but $3,000 of the total paid from the checking account, but had no records to prove it.

John says, ''With reality television, you get all these nightmare people who want to be successful, when you really want them to be assassinated.'' The Diving Board, John's recently released 31st studio album, deals with young stars who are desperate for the limelight. ''It's about someone who's attracted to fame no matter what," he says. "They want fame whatever the consequences, and they'll do anything to get there.'' John cites Lindsay Lohan as an example, calling her a "victim of success."

BEAUTY SALON ADDS FAT TAX FOR WOMAN GETTING LEGS WAXED
Larger women are being charged more money to have their legs waxed at a beauty salon because they use more materials. Clients at MM Bubbles salon in London are being hit with a "fat tax". Larger women, who are a size 18 or more could be charged about $25 more than the standard charge for the 45 minute treatment. (Houston Chronicle)
